Description
Since the dawn of rock and roll, the snap and response that comes from a bolt-on neck guitar has been an essential part of the mix. These attributes have, in turn, become essential to many players trying to tell their story through music. The CE 24 pairs PRS’s traditional body combination of the mahogany back and maple top with a bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The neck sports a Pattern Thin carve and satin nitro finish for a natural, addictive feel. To further maximize the guitar’s inherent tone and clarity, the CE 24 features PRS 85/15 pickups, which Paul designed to have remarkable clarity as well as extended high and low end. The electronics consist of a volume and push/pull tone control with 3-way toggle switch for a total of six classic sounds.
The original CE was introduced in 1988 and offered players PRS design and quality with the added snap and sparkle of traditional bolt-on guitars. This particular guitar is used but in excellent condition. Some other features include:
- Instrument Weighs 7.5 lbs
- Comes Equipped with 85/15 Pickups
- 1 11/16″ Nut
- Rosewood 24 Fret Fingerboard with 10″ Radius
- Pattern Thin neck profile with 25″ Scale Length
- Maple Top and Mahogany Body
- Includes original gig bag
Aesthetically, this guitar is in excellent shape. The edges of the headstock are clean and free of wear, with the exception of one very small spot on the tip of the longest point. The back of the neck is clear of wear and feels great, and there are no significant nick or dings through the finish anywhere on the body. The frets show only the most minor signs of use with plenty of life left in them, and all of the chrome hardware is shiny with no signs of corrosion or discoloration. All of the plastic parts are perfect with no chipping, and there is no discoloration of the finish from age. The body shows some moderate micro scratching from repeated polishing over time, mostly on the back, and there is some minor pick scratching next to the pickups. The only damage to note is one very, very small ding right above the top knob, although it doesn’t go through the finish.
Functionally, this guitar is perfect, and all of the moving parts work as intended. The tuning machines are tight and hold tune well, and the truss rod turns smoothly with plenty of adjustment in either direction. There are no divots in the fingerboard, and the tremolo is smooth and holds tune. The switch and knobs move smoothly with no stickiness or scratchiness.
This classic PRS is used by endless musicians, from stage to studio, and is the perfect professional grade guitar for the player who means business. Don’t let this awesome piece get away.
