Description
The Epiphone FT45N Cortez is an exceptionally comfortable little strummer, and is a great entry into collectable and vintage guitars. With big sound in a small body and classic looks, this guitar is just as good in the collection as it is in the hand of a player.
Functionally, this guitar is in perfect working condition. The original tuning machines are tight and hold tune well, and the truss rod moves smoothly and is easy to adjust. The original frets are in great shape with only minor wear from age and have plenty of life left in them. The original screw adjustment bridge has been upgraded with a professionally hand made Brazilian rosewood bridge, which is tight and makes for a seamless improvement. The action is average and provides lots of volume.
Aesthetically. This guitar is in great shape with some handsome signs of age. The finish on the headstock maintains its color with no signs of fading, and has only some light wear around the back edge of the headstock. The tuning machines show some signs of age but no heavy rust, and there are one or two spots of wear in the finish on the back of the neck. There are two small spots of wear though the finish on the back of the neck at the first fret, but they seem to be stable. The finish on the body is in good shape with some minor checking and a couple scratches. There is one spot below the pickguard on the face of the guitar with a couple small, noticeable scratches, and there is moderate pick scratching on and around the pickguard. The binding around the body on the front and the back is in excellent condition with no cracks, and shows the proper discoloration for it’s age. The sides of the body are also in great shape with some minor finish checking, and only two minor scuff marks on the bass side of the bout. The back of the guitar is in great shape with no discoloration of the finish, and shows the same minor checking as the rest of the body. There are one or two long scratches on the back, but they aren’t through the finish, and there is one spot on the back of the body where the finish is worn down almost to the wood. Original case is included.
Overall, this guitar shows it’s age but is still a great strummer with plenty of play left. Don’t let this cool little guitar get away!
