Rod Goelz
30+ Years Teaching · Berklee-Trained · Published Author
Rod Goelz has spent more than three decades teaching Central Pennsylvania to play. A York native who studied at Berklee College of Music and holds a music degree from Millersville University, Rod has published nine method books — including QuickStart Guitar, the method behind Guitar Lab — and earned the nickname "six-string surgeon" from the Associated Press.
Rod has mentored thousands of players and coached student bands that went on to become fixtures of the local music scene. His teaching philosophy is the whole idea behind these programs: music is best learned by doing it — playing real songs, with other people, from day one.

FAQ
Do I need my own guitar?
Yes, you need to own your own guitar. The Guitar Spot has a great selection of new and used guitars if you need to purchase one prior to starting.
What if I miss a week?
Lesson notes for Guitar Labs can be emailed when a week is missed. Members of Band Lab are encouraged to make every session because they become an integral part of the group.
Can parents attend?
Yes! Parents are welcome to attend and observe the class. Guitar Lab is a safe, encouraging environment where students are free to experiment, make mistakes, ask questions, and grow as musicians. We simply ask that parents respect that learning process and avoid interrupting or coaching during class.
What ages are the classes for?
All ages are welcome. We try to group similar ages when organizing classes.
